Art has allowed me to practice seeing the world around me with my own eyes. Painting and drawing renews a sense of awe and gratitude in me when I observe my surroundings. There's a passage by Howard Thurman that goes like this: “Don't ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” Art is one of the major forces that wakes me up to the world around me and makes me come alive.
In January 2019, my watercolor painting “Walked for Miles to Find This Edge” was shown in Gallery Clarendon’s National Juried Exhibition called “Signs of the Times.”
